Jessie J. Denies Lesbian Rumors: Bisexual Singer Shoots Down Biography Claims

Jessie J. Slams Lesbian Rumors Made In New Biography

British pop star Jessie J is fighting back against accusations that she was forced to claim she is bisexual rather than a lesbian in an effort to maintain her recording contract.

In an excerpt from an unauthorized biography titled "Jessie J: Who's Laughing Now," author Chloe Govan claimed the singer, best known for her hits "Domino" and "Who You Are" as well as her judging stint on the British version of "The Voice," was ordered to withhold the fact that she was a lesbian by her label Universal Records.

Though Jessie J has publicly revealed she is bisexual, Govan claims the 24-year-old singer hasn't had a boyfriend since she was 17. "Jessie might have been with boys in the past — but she is 100 per cent gay," Govan wrote in an excerpt of the book, as published in The Sun. "Jessie was openly lesbian and didn’t hide it."

Interestingly, Govan notes that Jessie was advised to admit to her bisexuality because it was "trendy, exotic and a fashion statement." The author continued, "Being gay would alienate people. They knew how important image was and asked her to tone it down a bit. There are so many homophobes out there, they feared a career-damaging backlash.”

However, the star has since taken to Twitter to deny the accusations, noting, "I'm really a lesbian?! Ha! Thanks for writing yet another boring untrue story."

As the Daily Mail reported, Jessie revealed she was bisexual last year, and even admitted to fancying Rihanna. "I've never denied it," she sad at the time. "If I meet someone and I like them, I don’t care if they're a boy or a girl."
