Jesus Trejo Found: Body Of Missing Miami-Dade Teen Discovered In Everglades Canal (VIDEO)

Missing 18-Year-Old's Body Found In Everglades Canal

The search for a missing Miami-Dade teen has ended in a remote canal and a homicide investigation.

Miami-Dade Police confirmed Thursday that a body found Wednesday night in an Everglades canal has been identified as 18-year-old Jesus Trejo, who was last seen by family and friends Tuesday morning.

Investigators say information let them to a remote area near 392nd Street and SW 232nd Avenue in South Miami-Dade Wednesday, where they found Trejo's blue Honda Civic abandoned. After an all-day search including aviation and K-9 efforts, police divers found and recovered Trejo's body in a nearby canal.

Sources said Trejo appeared to have been shot in the head as well as attacked by an alligator while in the water, CBS Miami reports.

His aunt, Angie Rodriguez, said Trejo told them he was going to meet a "white boy" in the Everglades.

"He came in the morning and said, 'Hi, how have you been?'" Angie Rodriguez. "I said, 'What are you going to do?' He said, 'Oh, I have to meet some white boy.' He never showed up again. He never came back home."

Police said in a statement that homicide detectives are investigating "all leads."

“Whoever he went to go meet out there, whoever he went to go see, whoever he was with knows something,” older sister Jazmine Trejo told CBS.
