Macie Young and Leo Bridgman are accused of robbing a jewelry store in Sycamore Township, Ohio, earlier this month. They allegedly made off with at least 27 diamond rings, according to ABC News.
The pair got trapped in an elevator that stopped when the store's alarm system was triggered, and they allegedly tried to hid the jewels behind elevator panels, according to NBC affiliate WLWT5.
Police say they recovered all of the stolen jewelry, except for one ring -- until now.
Yup, you guessed it: The suspect swallowed the ring. Police sent Young through an X-Ray machine when she was admitted to a local jail, and discovered the ring was in the 61-year-old's belly, despite her insistence otherwise.
Young and 57-year-old Bridgman were charged with breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools, and Young also faced charges for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. She obliged when police told her she remove the ring from her body, according to WCPO Cincinnati. No word on how exactly that went down.
