JFK Closed After Plane Slides Off Runway

A plane landing in JFK airport slid off the runway and into the snow on Sunday morning, the FAA said.

The FAA told CBS2 that there were no injuries reported.

JFK was shut down due to the risky weather conditions at around 830 AM EST. It reopened around 2 hours later.

According to NBC New York, the flight was a Delta Connection flight arriving from Toronto.

Severe weather is expected to hit the northeast on Sunday, with freezing rain and bitter cold winds.

It's been a tough weekend to travel to and from the tri-state area. Thousands of flights were canceled or delayed on Thursday and Friday due to snow and other bad weather. Additionally, several major roads and highways were temporarily closed due the inclement weather.

JFK was also shut down on Friday because of high winds and poor visibility.
