Jill Scott has renounced her support for Bill Cosby following the release of a 2005 deposition in which he admitted to obtaining drugs with the intent to give to women whom he wanted to have sex with.
Scott, who previously supported Cosby despite the sexual assault allegations against him, took to Twitter Monday to say she was wrong after the deposition surfaced Monday.
Ten years ago, Cosby admitted to obtaining quaaludes "with the intent of giving them to young women he wanted to have sex with and that he gave the sedative to at least one woman and other people," according to court documents secured by The Associated Press from a sexual-abuse case filed against the star by former Temple University employee Andrea Constand. He did not admit to drugging the women, however.
Cosby's lawyer did not want the deposition released because it would "embarrass" the actor, but the judge unsealed a portion of it because Cosby -- as both an actor and a public spokesperson on topics like family and crime -- "has voluntarily narrowed the zone of privacy that he is entitled to claim."
Scott, who attended Temple University, first tweeted her support for Cosby back in November when someone asked her to sign a petition asking the university to cut ties with the comedian due to the sexual assault claims against him. Cosby was on the board of trustees at the school, but has since resigned.
More than 25 women have accused Cosby of sexual assault, CNN noted.
