Jill Soloway won the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series Sunday night, and drew attention in her acceptance speech to the legalized discrimination trans men and women face in the United States. She urged viewers to head to transequality.org and to vote for the trans equality bill.

Soloway took home the award for "Transparent," an Amazon original series that tells the story of Maura, a trans woman who comes out late in life, and her family in Los Angeles.

Shortly after the speech, Jeffrey Tambor won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his work as Maura, and dedicated the award to the trans community.
