Disgraced Televangelist Jim Bakker Compares Bernie Sanders To Hitler

Huh?!?

There's a presidential candidate being compared to Adolf Hitler -- and odds are, it's not the one you're thinking of.

Disgraced televangelist Jim Bakker recently equated the support Democratic hopeful Bernie Sanders is getting from America's youth to support for Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany.

After Sasha Volz, one of Bakker's cohosts, complained about a plan to "infiltrate" the minds of America's youth, the preacher unleashed a bizarre rant.

"One of the most popular politicians right now is a socialist. And who is his biggest following?" he asked in video posted online by Right Wing Watch.

"The young people," Volz replied.

"The young people of America, from the colleges," Bakker said, adding:

"Maybe you understand a little bit what it felt like to live when Hitler was reigning and the church had to sit by and keep watching it and watching it until millions, tens of millions -- they had to build factories to kill people. All it takes is a couple bombs and all of America will be dead within a year, less than a year, just months.

“I can’t tolerate this much longer. I can’t tolerate it."

Bakker was a top televangelist in the 1980s, but a sex scandal caused him to resign from his ministry and a fraud conviction sent him to prison for five years. Today, he sells survivalist food to doomsday "preppers." NPR sampled his wares last year.

"We couldn't agree on which was worse," the radio network wrote. "The thick potato soup that felt like eating wet cement, the strong chemical overtones in the chocolate pudding or the disturbing radioactive orange of the macaroni and cheese."
