Jim Cramer is clearly still fuming from his disastrous appearance on the "The Daily Show" where he was grilled relentlessly by host Jon Stewart. Cramer seemed shell-shocked during the interview, and appeared on the MSNBC program "Morning Joe" a couple days later to defend himself, calling Stewart's criticism "misguided" because it focused on the media and "if you look at the players who were involved...and the litany of things that went wrong, the media's very, very low" on that list. He later offered a more full-throated defense on the "Today Show."
Now Cramer is revisiting the incident in an interview he recently gave to the Ohio State University publication "The Lantern" and going all out against Stewart. He accuses Stewart of orchestrating a "complete and utter ambush" and that Stewart "told my staff that it was going to be fun, convivial, no clips, but [it] doesn't matter, he's a comedian, he can do whatever he wants."
It seems questionable that Stewart, whose show is so reliant on video clips, would promise not to use any, or that Cramer, even if he received such a promise, would be so unprepared to defend himself against videos that are circulating widely on the Internet. He also reverts to calling Stewart just a comedian, which is one of the remarks that got him into trouble in the first place.
Cramer also slammed Stewart for his off-camera behavior and accused him of selective editing (an accusation that rings hollow considering "The The Daily Show" almost immediately released the entire unedited interview online):
"He had an animus toward me. At the conclusion of the interview, not on the mic, he said, 'I picked the wrong guy, I'm sorry,' but that's not gonna get out there," Cramer said. "He just said it to me as just a throwaway. His goal was just to humiliate and destroy me and probably get me fired, and last I looked, I still have a show."
