Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho) was re-elected to the U.S. Senate Tuesday, defeating Democrat Nels Mitchell.

Risch, who is also an attorney and rancher, easily defeated fellow Republican Jeremy Anderson in a primary earlier this year. He was appointed to the Senate in 2008 following the resignation of former Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho).

The senator previously served as Idaho's lieutenant governor and governor.
