Former NFL coach Jimmy Johnson is to take part in this upcoming season of the reality show, Survivor", according to ESPN. Johnson, 67, was unable to partake in the show last season because he failed a physical, according to dallasnews.com; however, the site claims Johnson has lost weight.
Johnson began his head coaching career in collegiate football, for Oklahoma State from 1979-1983. He then coached the Miami Hurricanes from 1984-1988, where he won a national championship in 1987. He coached the Dallas Cowboys from 1989-1993, where he guided the team to back-to-back championships in 1992 and 1993. He then coached the Miami Dolphins from 1996-1999, where he lead the team to the playoffs in three of the four seasons.
According to dallasnews.com, filming for the show starts in late June and will not interfere with his job as a football analyst for FOX. The taping only lasts 39 days. During that course of time, the contestants battle harsh conditions with little or no supplies and food. They compete in physical and mental challenges, to either game immunity or prizes, and are voted off the show progressively by the fellow contestants. The prize for winning the show is $1 million.
This season of Survivor is in Nicaragua. It will debut in September on CBS.
