And the 2018 Academy Award hosting gig goes to ... “La La Land” ... er ... we mean ... Jimmy Kimmel!

Kimmel’s first time hosting the Academy Awards was unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. As the night came to a close, “La La Land” was announced as the Best Picture winner before the real recipient, “Moonlight,” could be revealed after an envelope mix-up.

Confusion, jubilation and memes ensued ...

But Kimmel will return to host the 90th Academy Awards in March, with producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd also returning.

“If you think we screwed up the ending this year, wait until you see what we have planned for the 90th anniversary show!” Kimmel joked in a statement.

He added over Twitter: “Assuming I opened the right envelope.”

Elsewhere in his statement, Kimmel thanked the Academy for the opportunity, “Hosting the Oscars was a highlight of my career and I am grateful to Cheryl, [Academy CEO Dawn Hudson], and the Academy for asking me to return to work with two of my favorite people, Mike De Luca and Jennifer Todd.”

The host didn’t have anything to do with the Best Picture mix-up, but no doubt it’ll be a big topic for jokes when the show comes around. Another big topic will likely be Donald Trump, whom Kimmel called out multiple times during the 89th annual show, suggesting the 90th should be even more yuuuge.

The 90th Academy Awards will air Sunday, March 4, 2018, on ABC.
