Jimmy McMillan Documentary 'DAMN!' Releases Trailer, Will Show In New York City (VIDEO)

We first heard about the Jimmy McMillan documentary, DAMN!, back in December when Fantastic Relationship Filmmaking got Kickstarter funding to finish production of the movie about the eccentric Rent Is 2 Damn High Party gubernatorial candidate.

And today the New York Observer reports a trailer has been released and the film will screen at Cinema Village next August 12-19. You'll also be able to catch it at General Assembly on July 21st and ReRun Theater on July 28th, where Jimmy McMillan and the filmmakers will both make appearances, according to the DAMN! website.

The film follows McMillan during his overnight transformation into an international celebrity after his legendary performance at the 2010 gubernatorial debate.

The film does not, as the Observer notes, address the issue of how much McMillan pays for his own apartment, as he would not allow the filmmakers into his own home.

It looks, however, like a pretty entertaining and intimate glimpse at one the greatest New York characters in recent memory.
