Jiwan James Catch: Phillies Prospect Makes Strange, Amazing Grab.. Probably (VIDEO)

WATCH: Phillies Prospect Makes Ridiculous Catch

It's not unusual for a magician to roll up his sleeves before performing a trick. Baseball fans might wish Jiwan James had done the same before pulling off a mind-bending catch that looks too good to be true.

Playing for the Reading Phillies (Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies), James was credited with an incredibly strange, bare-handed catch that might rival Mike Trout's amazing snag for the Angels.

The catch happened during the third inning against the Bowie Baysox on Saturday. Bowie's Jonathan Schoop hit one deep to left-center field sending James to the warning track. The 23-year-old scaled the wall, reached over it with his glove and then somehow came down with the ball in his bare right hand.

It's hard to make out exactly how James made the grab, or if he technically caught the ball at all, but the athleticism alone makes for an interesting play. At the very least, James' mother was impressed.
