You can probably still recall the sting of not receiving a letter from Hogwarts back on your 11th birthday. But if you live in North America, you actually should have been angry at a school called Ilvermorny.

On Pottermore on Friday, J.K. Rowling revealed the name and location of the North American wizarding school any of your non-muggle friends would have been whisked off to. Ilvermorny is located, according to Pottermore's map, between northern Appalachia and Quebec.

That's all we know so far, but more information about the school has been promised soon both on Pottermore and in the upcoming film "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them," which takes place in the United States. Specifically, Rowling has said that main character Newt Scamander will meet witches and wizards educated there.

Rowling also revealed information on Pottermore about the Brazilian wizarding school Castelobruxo in the Amazon rainforest, Japanese wizarding school Mahoutokoro on an island called Minami Iwo Jima and Uagadou, the largest and oldest of many African wizarding schools.

Aren't you just delighted Potter mania is back?
