J.K. Simmons will host the Jan. 31 episode of "Saturday Night Live."

The actor, who's been a mainstay of the industry for years with roles in projects like "Law and Order" and "Juno," gained buzz this year for his turn as a manipulative music teacher in Damien Chazelle's breakout indie film, "Whiplash." The role earned him a Golden Globe win for Best Supporting Actor and an Oscar nomination in the same category.

Simmons will be joined by musical guest D'Angelo, who recently released his brand new album "Black Messiah."

Prepare yourselves for some intensely-well acted sketches, everyone.
