Joan Rivers might be 79 years old, but that doesn't mean the legendary comedian can't explore her sexuality.
On NBC's "Today Show" on Tuesday, a clip aired from Season 3 of Joan and Melissa Rivers' reality show, "Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?," during which Joan reveals she recently kissed a woman.
"It was in the moment," Joan explains to her daughter in the WEtv clip. "I like her very much. It's like the Katy Perry song, 'I Kissed a Girl.' I don't know if I liked it or I didn't like it. I woke up this morning with an incredible urge to play golf."
Jokes aside, Joan insists her bi-curious kiss really did happen.
"Lily Tomlin, who is my very good friend, she and Jane Lynch had a dinner party, and I met this lovely woman," she explained on "Today" Tuesday morning. "At this point, all the men I go out with remind me of my father -- dead ... I figured I might as well try it at this point. Maybe I've been missing something."
Joan's revelation comes on the heels of the coming-out of seasoned celebrity Clive Davis.
In his new memoir, "The Soundtrack of My Life," 80-year-old Davis comes out as bisexual. The music mogul reveals he has had long-term relationships with two men over the past 20 years, despite never having had sex with a man for 50 years of his life.
Whether or not Joan is being sincere about her sexual awakening is unclear.
Joan, who played a lesbian opposite Barbara Streisand in an off-off-Broadway play in the 1950s, said in 2010 that she had never experimented with a woman.
"I always liked men. I wish I could say, 'Gee, there was this counselor ... But it never happened for me," she told the Advocate. "Will it ever happen? Who knows? If Lily Tomlin had shown up with a ring, who knows what might’ve happened? But it would’ve had to be a big ring."
Joan also jokingly added, "You should only come out when you need the publicity."
