The September jobs report came out today, and as you might have heard, it contained some good news. Unemployment is down to 7.8 percent -- the lowest it's been since January 2009.

As you might also have heard, some conservatives are pushing back on those numbers, saying the Obama administration must have manipulated the jobs data to make it look better than it really is.

There's already a pushback to the pushback, with analysts pointing out how -- as The Washington Post's Ezra Klein explains -- "the Bureau of Labor Statistics is set up to ensure the White House has no ability to influence it."
