WASHINGTON ― Joe and Jill Biden left the nation’s capital on Friday via the former vice president’s favorite method of travel: the train.

The couple bid farewell to now-former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama after President Donald Trump’s inauguration at the U.S. Capitol, and hopped on a regularly scheduled Amtrak Acela Express at Washington’s Union Station to go home to Wilmington, Delaware.

“Back on Amtrak,” Biden said nonchalantly while boarding the train, his preferred form of transportation throughout his tenure as vice president.

Delaware Democratic Sens. Tom Carper, Chris Coons and several of Biden’s staff joined him for the ride.

The Bidens arrived in Delaware to a warm welcome:

The Bidens intend to purchase a house in Washington D.C. so they can be near the Obamas, close friends, and so that Jill Biden can continue teaching in Northern Virginia, according to the New York Times.

The Obamas, however, stuck to tradition and left the U.S. Capitol via helicopter to Andrews Air Force Base to address friends and staff.
