Joe says it ain't so.
On Wednesday's "Morning Joe," anchor Joe Scarborough insisted that he was not looking to run for Vice President in 2012, saying he was irritated about rumors that an independent bid might be in the works with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg potentially at the top of the ticket.
He firmly denied it at the top of the show. "Mike Bloomberg and I have not talked about this directly, or indirectly, or super-super-secret indirectly."

He reiterated his position later in the program:
"There is nothing to this. They say somebody very close to they mayor says I want to be vice president. That's a joke. Nobody that has worked with me who is a lawyer, nobody that's worked with me in media, nobody that's worked with me in Congress would ever say, 'You know who I think would make a great vice president? Joe Scarborough.' Seriously? Seriously? ... I could not have been more unequivocal."
Scarborough did remain encouraging of a Bloomberg bid, wrapping up the segment by saying, "I wish Bloomberg would consider running ... I think he will. I think he's going to be pushed."
HuffPost's earlier coverage noted that Scarborough had made it clear that he has never discussed the subject directly with Bloomberg, but that he added, "Have people discussed it in his sphere and in my sphere? I think so."
