Joe Scarborough Attacks Media For Covering WHCA Dinner Over Freddie Gray Protests

Joe Scarborough took a dig at the media Monday morning for choosing to cover the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday instead of the protests in Baltimore over the death of Freddie Gray.

Protests turned violent Saturday night when clashes broke out between demonstrators and police over Gray, the 25-year-old black man who died on April 19 from a spinal chord injury sustained while in police custody.

But the media's attention seemed to be focused more on the glamorous press dinner, Scarborough said, despite these riots occurring just a short distance away.

"Every news organization decided to stay on what is affectionately called the 'nerd prom' in Washington, D.C.,” Scarborough said. “They decided to stay on the news gatherers themselves talking to other news gatherers instead of actually going to where the big story of the weekend was, 40 miles up the road. They should have cut in on those riots.”
