MSNBC host Joe Scarborough appeared seriously incensed Thursday over the invocation of Christmas by Republican Senators to criticize Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. During an extended segment on comments by Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) and Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), who Wednesday said that Reid's threats of forcing the Senate to work through the holidays were tantamount to "disrespect" and "sacrilege," Joe Scarborough called the senators "un-Christlike" and added that they owed Reid an apology.
"Judge not that ye be not judged. Questioning Harry Reid's Christianity, suggesting he's blasphemous," Scarborough said with derision. "I do think that Senator DeMint, who I know and like and respect, and Jon Kyl owe Harry Reid an apology. And I will say it. I will go there. It is un-Christlike. I will go there. It is un-Christlike to judge another man's faith in the way they have judged Harry Reid's faith. A devout Mormon, a devout Christian, and there is nothing biblical about that. Nothing. "
Sen. Reid had announced the possibility of an extended Senate calendar in order to combat a recent wave of GOP obstruction meant to stall lame duck debate on key Democratic initiatives, such as Obama's START Treaty, which was recently agreed to be opened to discussion, the DREAM Act, the House's bill to overturn "don't ask, don't tell," and a divisive omnibus spending bill meant to fund the federal government.
