Joe Simpson is shooting down the gay rumors that have circulated in the past month. Though no official statement was given, TMZ reports that the 54-year-old father of Jessica Simpson has told family and friends the salacious stories suggesting that the former pastor had come out as a gay man are "ridiculous" and untrue. On "Access Hollywood" Monday, host Billy Bush said he had been emailing back and forth with Simpson and that he had also denied the rumors.
In October, a RadarOnline story linked Simpson to 21-year-old aspiring model Bryce Chandler Hill, alleging that Simpson's affair with the young man had been the final cleaver in his marriage to Tina Simpson. Hill appeared to deny the story on his Twitter, when he wrote on Oct. 26, "Yes, I've read the story....it's simply NOT TRUE."
On Oct. 24, it was announced that Simpson had split from Tina Simpson, 52, his wife of 34 years. A rep for the family confirmed that Tina had filed for divorce, telling People: "It is an amicable split and there is no third party involved. Any other related allegations are completely false. The family appreciates your respect for their privacy at this time."
