John Berman Joins CNN's "Early Start"

CNN Shakes Up Morning Team

CNN added a new face to its morning line up.

The network announced on Tuesday that former ABC News correspondent John Berman will join the network as an anchor of CNN's "Early Start." The morning program, which precedes Soledad O'Brien's "Starting Point," airs weekdays from 5-7:00 a.m. Berman will join the program's current anchors, Ashleigh Banfield and Zoraida Sambolin. Berman, who regularly contributed to ABC's "Good Morning America," will also contribute to CNN's "Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer" and various other programs.

Early Start launched in January, part of a major morning overhaul by CNN. The show has been struggling in the ratings, as has the network as a whole.

Speaking of his new role, Berman said, "It is a pleasure to join the prestigious global news leader CNN. I am looking forward to being a part of the morning team and to contributing across CNN's lineup," said Berman.
