John Cena Perfectly Explains What 'Patriotism' Really Means

"Patriotism is love for a country, not just pride in it."

Professional wrestler, actor and mega wish-granter John Cena used this Independence Day as an opportunity to explain the real meaning of patriotism.

In a video released by the Ad Council, Cena takes to the streets to explain that patriotism isn't just about "flag sequined onesies and rodeos and quadruple cheeseburgers."

"Patriotism is love for a country, not just pride in it," Cena says in the video.

After challenging viewers to picture the average American, Cena proceeds to break down stats about what kind of people make up the USA -- Latinos, senior citizens, people who are disabled, Muslims, red heads, Ultimate Frisbee players and more.

"This year, patriotism shouldn't just be about pride of country, but should be about love -- love beyond age, disability, sexuality, race, religion and any other labels," Cena says. "Because the second any of us judge people based on those labels, we're not really being patriotic, are we?"
