UPDATE 3:31 PM -- CNN reports that Edwards' spokeswoman has denied that he proposed to Hunter. In an email to CNN she wrote that the Enquirer's story was "absolutely untrue."

According to the National Enquirer, former presidential candidate John Edwards has proposed to his mistress Rielle Hunter. The couple, along with their love child, plan on moving to a recently purchased $3.5 million beachfront home.
According to Edwards' former campaign aide Andrew Young (who's recent book The Politician contained a string of revelations about the dissolution of the Edwards' marriage, including a possible sex-tape), Edwards and Hunter have been seeing each other consistently for years. During a recent interview on Fox News, Hannity asked Young when Edwards "had stopp[ed] seeing Hunter... or has he?"
"I don't think he has," Young responded.
News of the proposal followed a press statement from Edwards confirming that he was the father of Hunter's child, Frances Quinn. A source told the Enquirer: "John dropped the proposal bomb on Rielle shortly before he issued his statement.... John has said that when his divorce is final, he'll buy her a diamond ring. But in the meantime, he's getting them a house." Another source told the Enquirer that Hunter accepted.
Edwards was legally separated from his wife, Elizabeth two weeks ago. Last week, the Enquirer reported that Edwards beat Elizabeth during a marriage-ending fight.
