John Madden Criticizes 49ers Coach Mike Singletary For Yelling At His Quarterback

Legendary NFL Coach Slams Mike Singletary

Mike Singletary, San Francisco 49ers head coach, spent some time during their 27-24 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night yelling at quarterback Alex Smith. Former NFL coach John Madden told KCBS in San Francisco that he had a problem with that.

"That's really not part of coaching, that's sometimes I worry about that. I see youth football and I see high school football and coaches yelling at players and I cringe when I see it," Madden said of Singletary's coaching style. "I think people get the picture that's what coaching is and believe me, that's not what coaching is."

Madden, who won a Super Bowl coaching the Oakland Raiders, went on to say that coaching has more to do with teaching and Singletary did the exact opposite.

The 49ers have not won a game yet this season and play the Oakland Raiders in Week 6.
