John Mayer Calls The Day Taylor Swift Was Born The 'Lamest Day Of The Year'

Happy Birthday, Taylor Swift ... from everybody except John Mayer.

On Tuesday, amid a barrage of birthday wishes from her squad and beyond as Swift turned 27 years old, ex-boyfriend Mayer slipped in the shadiest message in the game.

“Tuesday, December 13 may be the lamest day of the year, conceptually,” he tweeted before deleting it once his followers put two and two together. Bad blood apparently flows both ways between the two songwriters.

Of course, Mayer was probably referring to the Dec. 13 as the anniversary of Sir Francis Drake setting sail around the world, in 1577, or the day the city of Los Angeles dipped to a cool 28 degrees, in 1938. Both are so totally lame, right?

Eh, nevermind. It’s totally about Taylor.

Swift and Mayer briefly dated from November 2009 until their tumultuous breakup in February 2010, but their connection was strong enough to allegedly inspire the classic Swift ballad “Dear John.”

(Lyrical excerpt: Dear John, I see it all now that you’re gone / Don’t you think I was too young to be messed with? / The girl in the dress / Cried the whole way home / I should’ve known.)

Mayer tweeted a follow-up to his original message to dismiss accusations that he’d knocked Swift on her birthday, writing that there was “absolutely no shade” ― before deleting that, too.

“NOPE. No. Nuh-uh. People I am 39,” he wrote. “I am deleting those tweets. Come right at me for doing so. Absolutely no shade.”

Sure, John.
