John Mulaney Pilot Ordered By NBC, Lorne Michaels Producing

John Mulaney, a stand-up comedian who until very recently was a writer/producer on "Saturday Night Live," will write and star in a sitcom pilot for NBC. TV Line reports that Lorne Michaels is producing the pilot.

Best known on "SNL" for co-creating the breakout character Stefon as well as performing in the occasional Weekend Update spot, Mulaney, 30, has been a rising star in the world of comedy for several years. His most recent album, the Comedy Central special "New in Town," was on several Best of 2012 year-end lists.

He was also recently seen alongside frequent collaborator Nick Kroll on Comedy Central's "Kroll Show."

According to TV Line, "The multi-camera project is based loosely on Mulaney’s life and will follow a group of young people and their hijinks."

Along with Michaels, producers on the show will be Dave Becky, who most recently worked on "Louie," and "30 Rock" alumni David Miner and Andrew Singer.
