John Paul Steven's Strip Club Room: Retiring Justice Once Had Scores' Champagne Room Named After Him

Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens may be retiring, but his name will always live on in the hearts of some of New York's greatest strippers.

Yes, you read that correctly.

It turns out that during the Giuliani-era crack down on sex shops, strip clubs, and adult cinemas, Justice Stevens granted a key legal stay in a case reviewing the constitutionality of the city's efforts.

Local adult establishments had argued that banning strip clubs infringed on the First Amendment rights of dancers.

As a thank you to the Justice for his efforts, world famous strip joint Scores renamed its Champagne Room the John Paul Stevens Room.

When reached by phone, a receptionist at the new Scores location -- the company began licensing its name in 2009 -- said she was unsure if the name had stuck.

That may be one honor Justice Stevens could live without, anyway.
