Fearless Veteran Celebrates 90th Birthday On Top Of A Plane

War veteran John Weston took his 90 birthday celebration to new heights.

According to BBC News, Weston was flown 500 feet into the air for 15 minutes while strapped to the upper wing of a 1942 Boeing-Stearman biplane. With a wave to the crowd, the Royal Air Force veteran made the feat look easy.

"It’s windy up there!" he told BBC News when he safely returned to land.

Weston's ride was more than an adrenaline rush. BBC News reports he took the challenge to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society after his wife died, though the amount he raised was undisclosed.

"For three years [my wife] was reasonably active, then she got very poorly and for the last eight months it was cruel to see her," he said. "She'd lost the use of her arms, legs, speech and couldn't swallow."

Thanks to his kind gesture and incredible stunt, next year's birthday celebration sure has some big shoes to fill.
