This Dude's Great-Grandpa Looks Exactly Like Johnny Depp

Eerie.

Time travel is real. Here's Exhibit A.

Michael William Johnstone, a 23-year-old senior at Saint Louis University in Missouri, recently shared a photo of his great-grandfather a few days ago on Reddit under the username mwjstone14.

The photo ended up going viral because the 23-year-old's great-grandfather Michael Fuller Johnstone looks freakishly like a certain Hollywood star.

If you thought you may have seen the great-grandpa in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, you're not the only one. Many on the social media site have also compared the man to Johnny Depp.

The college senior told the Huffington Post in an email that he's never met his great-grandfather. But from what he's gathered, the senior Johnstone seems to have little in common with Depp besides his looks.

The great-grandfather was a trombonist and traveling musician. The student mentioned that the man had also served in the army and was a choir director for various high schools.

The 23-year-old said that he and his family are floored by the attention his great-grandfather's photo has received. Though he's not sure if the relative stole as many hearts as Depp, he has an idea.

"I can't speak to the validity of him being a heartthrob back in the day, but I'm guessing with his looks he did pretty well with the ladies," Johnstone said.
