Johnny Depp's Head Made A Cameo On Last Night's 'Walking Dead'

We don’t think this counts as an official IMDb credit.

This might be Johnny Depp's most compelling role in years.

The "Black Mass" actor had a blink and you'll miss it cameo of sorts on Sunday's episode of the horror drama as Decapitated Zombie Head No. 3. Yeah, it's kind of like when you played a tree in your middle school musical, but less glamorous, obvi.

In order to convince Negan's Saviors into thinking they've killed Hilltop leader Gregory, Andy, Jesus and Rick put the heads of three decapitated walkers on display to see which one could pass for the baddie.

Greg Nicotero, special effects guru and sometimes "Walking Dead" director revealed in conversation with Entertainment Weekly that they used an old mold of Depp's face when creating a new head for the episode.

"One of the other heads, I don’t know if I’m going to get in trouble if I say this, was Johnny Depp," Nicotero admitted. "I think we had sculpted an emaciated version of a dummy head for something and we used Johnny Depp’s head as a basis just for a clay sculpt."

Depp, however, was in pretty good company, considering Nicotero himself served as the mold for the head next to him.

"It’s kind of funny because a lot of people ask me how many cameos I do in the show as a walker," the director added. "The Gregory head is actually a cast of my head. When Xander Berkeley was cast as Gregory, we didn’t have enough time to get him to Los Angeles to do a head cast ... It ended up being a mold of my head. So that head that he picks up is actually a fake head of me!"

We hope someone made Depp aware of his "cameo," because we can only imagine the shock of seeing one's dead self on a hit TV show without any notice.

"Amber, honey, does that mangled, bloody head look like me?"-- Johnny Depp, probably.
