After making a a fiery rant against Russia's anti-LGBT laws and and the International Olympics Committee, Keith Olbermann sat down with Olympic medalist Johnny Weir to discuss the figure skater's perspective surrounding a possible boycott of the 2014 Winter Games.
Weir, who has previously claimed that he would be willing to be arrested at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and stated that he thinks athletes should "fight for a chance" to compete at the Olympics, gave the interview while wearing a Russian military uniform. Though he never takes a rigid position on the proposed boycott as a member of the LGBT community, claiming his identity as an Olympian eclipses both his sexual identity and race, Weir's overarching point proved to again be that a boycott of the 2014 Sochi Olympic games would only serve to harm the athletes.
Weir ended the interview by making the following claim, most likely referencing the fact that gay marriage is not legal in New Jersey, when Olbermann continued to prod him about his place within the boycott conversation as a gay man:
"I live in New Jersey, so I'm not even still considered an equal human. I wasn't considered an equal in this country, so why should I stay away from another country that doesn't consider me equal, and why should I not show the world what I worked hard for?"
