The legal profession is turning a corner and awakening a new dawn for equality and diversity to create more opportunities for women and retain a diverse talent pool giving rise to more women leaders in law. This will inevitably boost productivity and production for legal businesses that make gender parity key to their commercial strategy. Under the steer of President Elect, Christina Blacklaws, the Law Society of England & Wales is taking bold steps to achieve equality for women within the legal profession both in its jurisdiction and internationally.

This is a conscious movement and as such requires input, initiative and implementation from all men and women in the legal profession within region and internationally. Accordingly, all legal professionals are strongly encouraged to take part in the global quantitative survey which has been developed to further research to create a value-added international platform for women and men to discuss how to support women in leadership roles. As many men and women as possible, across all jurisdictions internationally, should complete the survey and share their views and experiences. This global survey is supported by Lexis Nexis and the International Bar Association.

Please complete the survey HERE. It will take just 5 Minutes. Deadline for completion is 21 January 2018 so please complete quickly and circulate to all your colleagues, friends and acquaintances in any legal business. The data gathered will be part of a wider report which will be launched in 2018 and used alongside qualitative data from a series of roundtables to shed light on the issues affecting women in the law.

Why is this global survey important? It will:

  • highlight the issues preventing parity of women with the support of statistical data from quantitative and qualitative research.
  • develop a network of international female lawyers, to support one another in the shared objective of achieving gender equality.
  • empower women to succeed and aspire to positions of leadership in the profession and inspire other women to stay in the profession and engender change from within.
