Jon Kyl Accuses Obama Administration Of Holding Border 'Hostage' (VIDEO)

At a recent Tea Party town hall meeting, Sen. Jon Kyl accused the Obama administration of holding the country's border along Meixco "hostage" -- reviving a charge the Arizona Republican brought upon Democrats with regards to the immigration issue just last month.

Speaking to conservative supporters in his home state, Kyl alleged that President Obama told him in a private meeting that if his administration takes steps to "secure the border," then lawmakers in Washington "won't have any reason to support comprehensive immigration reform." The GOP Senator went on to criticize the approach to border control by blasting, "They are holding it hostage."

According to Kyl, the president signaled his stance on the immigration issue when the pair recently met in the Oval Office. It was "just the two of us," he said.

Just last month, Kyl warned warned Democrats against trying to "hold hostage the security of the border in order to get comprehensive immigration reform passed."

"You don't have to have comprehensive reform to secure the border, but you have to secure the border to get comprehensive reform," Kyl suggested at last week's Tea Party town hall. "We're supposed to secure the border... They frankly don't want to do it. They want to get something in return for doing their duty."

Despite the claims made by the Arizona Republican, the Obama administration recently ordered thousands of National Guard troops be sent to the the U.S.-Mexico border to boost security.
