Jon Stewart And Stephen Colbert Bring Back 'The Colbert Report'

Trump times call for desperate measures.

Nation, they’re back.

After months of saying the “Pledge” every morning in your homes, eating apple pie, watching baseball and being the best Americans that America could ever America, the wait is over. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert brought back “The Colbert Report” to “The Late Show” on Monday.

Stewart and the old Colbert, who have apparently been isolated in the wilderness, were shocked to learn Donald Trump was the Republican nominee for president. (Get in line, dudes.) And they have the spit-takes to prove it.

With the Republican National Convention this week, and with America — “God’s girlfriend,” according to Colbert — facing a Trump candidacy, the old Colbert is here to explain how it all went down.

“Shh! Daddy’s here. I know a lot of you are out on the ledge right now. When I’m done, I promise, you’ll be jumping for joy,” said Colbert.

And that brings us to tonight’s word: Trumpiness. Welcome back, Stephen.

”The Late Show” airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
