Jon Stewart Tells CNN To Do One, Crazy Thing To Save Their Network

Why Jon Stewart Could Not Stop Watching CNN

Jon Stewart was just about to give up on CNN. After this, this and this, it was unclear whether he would ever watch again. But the "Daily Show" host said that a recent interview on the network may just turn him back into a loyal viewer.

"I've never said this before," Stewart admitted. "But I was unable to change the channel from CNN."

Stewart was referring to a segment with boxing promoter Don King on CNN in February, when the sports promoter continued to interrupt co-hosts John Berman and Michaela Pereira, chanting things like “CNN today! CNN today!” and shouting that Berman and Pereira should get a raise.

Stewart pointed out that, until this interview, CNN had been "struggling a little bit of late to find their voice." He then went on to list just a few of the changes the network has experimented with in an effort to boost ratings, like--in his words-- canceling their international show, moving Ashleigh Banfield from 11 AM to 12 PM, hosting shows on a "sponsored couch," cutting Anderson Cooper's 10 PM show, sending two reporters to the same parking lot "for no f*cking reason" and adding a second Wolf Blitzer show because "one show is not enough."

But according to Stewart, all CNN has to do is put King on every show and they'll be a hit network.

"The show has completely fallen apart," Stewart shouted, referring to the segment with King, "and it's the best thing on the entire network.... Give me more of the King!”
