"The Daily Show" returned last night and Jon Stewart didn't hold back, ripping the potentially violent undertones of the conservatives' reaction to the passing of health care reform.
Having been on hiatus last week, Stewart had plenty of fodder provided by the Palins, Limbaughs, and Boehners of the world, who appeared to be inciting the violence against Democratic congressmen. Stewart acknowledged that Palin had directly responded to the connection, making it clear her call to "reload" was meant to inspire political action, not violence. Said Stewart: "Sarah Palin has a dream...and in that dream, you have a gun."
Correspondent John Oliver clarified further, explaining it was a metaphor. Just like when he said "patriots are obliged to castrate and skullf--k every baby killer who voted for this bill" - it was a metaphor for grassroots campaign.
