The actor ― who has an on-and-off relationship with Jolie ― spoke with both Inside Edition and Radar Online after news of the split broke.
“I don’t know much about it except it must be something serious,” Voight told Radar on Tuesday. “I just got the news and I’m concerned.”
He essentially told Inside Edition the same thing, adding “It’s very sad. Something very serious must have happened for Angie to make a decision like this.”
Despite not knowing the root of the divorce, Voight was confident that Jolie’s priorities would center around the couple’s six kids: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox.
“The priority is always the children,” he said to Radar. “I know she’s always concerned about the children.”
TMZ was first to report the news that Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt, citing irreconcilable differences. The two, who have been married for a little over two years but have been together for over 10, reportedly split because of Pitt’s parenting methods and consumption of marijuana and alcohol.
