When they were 16, Alessandra Carlone and Kimberly Ramos were huge Jonas Brothers fans ― this truly cannot be overstated. The girls’ love for the singing group was rivaled only by their determination to see their favorite band appear on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” a feat they singlehandedly made happen in 2008.
In typical “Oprah Show” fashion, Alessandra and Kimberly found out that their lobbying was successful in one epic surprise moment. While attending a Jonas Brothers concert, the teens were left speechless when Kevin Jonas asked them to come up on stage. Once there, Joe Jonas broke the news.
“You two wonderful ladies have been calling and writing for us to get onto the show. Well, we are going to be on ‘Oprah’ ― but there’s one more thing,” Joe said. “You guys are coming too.”
So, Alessandra and Kimberly flew from the East Coast to Chicago, appearing on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” with their beloved boy band.
Now, Alessandra and Kimberly are sharing an update on their lives since those memorable Jonas Brothers moments with “Oprah: Where Are They Now?”
“Everything that happened that day, it was amazing,” Kimberly says. “It’s something that we keep with us always. And we talk about it all the time!”
The experience is perhaps particularly important to these fans since the Jonas Brothers broke up in 2013. “I’m still upset, right now, that they’re not together,” Alessandra says.
Somehow, the two managed to go on with their lives, which included getting into college ― with some indirect help from the Jonas Brothers.
“The experience of meeting the Jonas Brothers and getting them on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ actually got me into college,” Kimberly says. “I wrote my college essay on the whole experience, how determined I was.”
Kimberly has since completed her graduate program in speech and language pathology, and is working at a rehab facility/nursing home at the moment. As for Alessandra, she’s currently in graduate school to pursue a career in speech-language pathology as well. She’s also engaged to be married, and, naturally, Kimberly is her maid of honor.
Neither friend sees their love of the Jonas Brothers fading any time soon.
“We’re devoted to the Jonas Brothers for life,” Alessandra says.
“Oprah: Where Are They Now?” airs Saturdays at 10 p.m. ET on OWN.
