Every season a designer throws an incredible rager and usually it’s Alexander Wang. This season took a turn for the electronic and the award to the craziest party goes to Mr. Simkhai, who last night, with the help of Effen Vodka, Suntory Toki Whiskey, El Tesoro de Don Filipe Tequila and additional support from Maybelline New York took over Kola House. While Kola House is no stranger to hosting intimate live performances, last night was something totally different, given that Simkhai brought in EDM superstars Galantis to perform which is sort of crazy given that Galantis normally performs at festivals like, oh I don’t know, Ultra. Guests including May Kwok, Aluna George, Cindy Bruna, Caroline Daur, Claudia Oshry, Danielle Bernstein,Maxwell Osborne, Dao Yi Chow, John Targon, Joy Zauzig, Eric Marx all danced well into the night in a storm of confetti and lights that was more reminiscent of a night at an electronic club than a restaurant turned club.
Of course Mr. Simkhai had much to celebrate as he was coming off the heels of a great show earlier in the day that had critics and fans buzzing on social media. Safe to say this morning everyone was a little slower to get to their shows with some people more likely than not missing some of them all together. Sorry publicists everywhere, you can blame Jonathan for our tardiness but to be honest, we’d do it all over again if we could (and hopefully we will next season!)
