When Jonny Dorsey learned that an immigrant friend wouldn't be able to get the best care for an injured wrist, it became the impetus for a career in health disparities.

Then, a few years later, another friend died from untreated HIV in Zambia. "It was infuriating," said Dorsey, who at the time had temporarily dropped out of Stanford to co-found a student AIDS campaign. That anger turned into action, and eventually led to the founding of Global Health Corps, an organization that pairs American and international students to work together for one year at health-related nonprofits around the world.

Dorsey shared his story with The Huffington Post's Dan Koh last week at the Aspen Ideas Festival. The pair also discussed ways that the social sector can win "the war for talent" -- and how to encourage more young people to serve the world community.

"It's a huge failing," Dorsey said, "That we're not capturing all this committed talent for good."

His next venture, he says, will be an organization that will help connect nonprofits with talented graduates who want to create social change.
