José Andrés Moving Minibar To Zola Space

José Andrés Confirms Big News

WASHINGTON -- Rumors had been flying around since last year that José Andrés had his eye on the space occupied by Zola Wine & Kitchen, a restaurant adjacent to the International Spy Museum in Penn Quarter.

Now, according to The Washington Post's Tom Sietsema, it's official: Andrés will be moving his critically acclaimed six-seat Minibar to the space.

As Sietsema reports:

It's a score for both Minibar and its legions of fans (or wanna-be customers). The move offers the cooks a dedicated kitchen, which will translate into enhanced production, and more than doubles the number of seats, according to Andres. The current Minibar features a small counter; the future restaurant has three tables, with room for 16.

According to Sietsema, those wanting to get hard-to-score Minibar reservations can try their luck starting Sept. 1.

While any news involving Andrés is mouthwatering for foodies in the nation's capital, it comes with additional restaurant stirrings.

In addition to Zola closing, Stir Food Group will be shuttering its Potenza on 15th Street NW, Washington City Paper reports.

Jeffrey Buben, chef/owner of Bistro Bis and Vidalia, is reportedly going to take over the Potenza space, according to City Paper.
