Josh Brolin Reportedly Going To Rehab For 'Substance Abuse'

Josh Brolin is apparently trying to live up to his promise to quit drinking: The Oscar-nominated actor reportedly checked himself into rehab recently in Northern California for substance abuse, Us Weekly reports.

The 45-year-old "Gangster Squad" actor has recently made headlines for alleged drunken antics. Just a few weeks ago, a video that appears to show Brolin in a sloppy fistfight outside a Santa Monica nightclub was published by TMZ. The same weekend, another video surfaced allegedly showing Brolin viciously berating a cab driver after a fender-bender.

Just one day later, Brolin told a TMZ reporter that he was "completely done" with alcohol.

Explaining why he decided to get professional help, an anonymous source with knowledge of the story told Us Weekly that Brolin "realized he needed help and is committed to his sobriety."

The actor has been in trouble with the law a number of times throughout the years. He's been arrested for public intoxication, interfering with police and domestic battery.

A request for comment made to Brolin's reps was not immediately answered.
