Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has accomplished something that legendary wideouts such as Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Michael Irvin, Steve Largent and Cris Carter never did. With 261 yards receiving in Cleveland's 33-28 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Gordon became the first player in NFL history with consecutive 200+ yard receiving games. Perhaps most impressively, he managed to do this with beleaguered quarterback Brandon Weeden under center for the Browns in those games.
The signature play of Gordon's record-setting Week 13 performance came with Browns attempting to rally against the Jags in the fourth quarter at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland. With the Jags leading 25-21 and the Browns starting a drive from their own 5-yard line late in the fourth quarter, Gordon caught a pass near the 23-yard line, turned upfield and ran the rest of the way for a 95-yard touchdown.
A supplemental draft pick out of Baylor in 2012, Gordon has been racking up yards at a historic pace over the past two weeks. He tallied 237 receiving yards in a Week 12 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers before improving upon that total in Week 13 against the Jags. Across the two games, Gordon accounted for 498 of Weeden's 579 passing yards. That haul by Gordon is the highest two-game total by a receiver in NFL history, according to FOX Sports.
Unfortunately for the Browns, Gordon's big day wouldn't be enough as the Jaguars responded with a game-winning drive.
