Josie Loren Says She's 'Ready To Move On' From 'Make It Or Break It' (EXCLUSIVE)

For four years, Cuban-American actress Josie Loren has starred as gymnast Kaylie Cruz on ABC Family's hit show, "Make It Or Break It" (MIOBI).

And with the show airing its series finale tonight at 9/8c, the sweet 25-year-old actress called The Huffington Post to talk about what's coming up in tonight's dramatic finale, the challenges she faced while working on the show, and why she's sad to see MIOBI come to an end.

We're sad that "Make It Or Break It" is coming to an end tonight. What can you tease about the finale?
Every time “Make It Or Break It” has had a finale, the main focus has been the competition. There has always been a competition that closes out the season, and all of the personal relationships and issues are the background of the episode. This time it's different. This time, all of the issues that we've been dealing with all season—they’re the primary focus of the episode, and then the competition—which is obviously super important—is kind of in the background. I think it's a great way to end the series by focusing on the girls and their friendship. It's an episode with so much heart and love, and honestly I get goosebumps thinking about it, because I think everyone's going to love it so much.

What can you tell us about what happens to Kaylie in tonight's episode?

{Laughs}. She um...she definitely goes on a roller coaster this episode. What Wendy did to Kaylie is going to come out and you know if you are caught with drugs, you're not allowed to compete, so she's banned from the competition. I don't want to give it away, but there are a lot of things that happen and the girls really pull for Kaylie. Again, it's this really beautiful thing that happens with us that shows a lot of friendship and support. It's a huge roller coaster for Kaylie.

The characters on the show are like a tight-knit family. Is the same true about the cast?
Oh yeah. Absolutely. We'll all be together tonight.

So it's safe to assume there was never any diva behavior on the set?
No. Which is what makes it so sad for us. Obviously as an actor you're ready to move on after being on a show for four years, but at the same time, some of my best friends are part of this cast and crew and it's so sad knowing that I'm not going to go to work with my best friends everyday! It hurts.

"Make It Or Break It" seems like a very demanding show. Were there any hardships you had to overcome over the years while working on the show?
Um, {Laughs}. I would say, yes. But those were for like, personal reasons—not because of anything that had to do with the show. But there were points, because the show was so demanding. It's not like {"Secret Life of the American Teenager"}, which is made up of a bunch of scenes with two or three people in it. In our scenes, you have an entire gym involved and it's a huge ensemble cast and it's very demanding. And then this season, we went from having nine series regulars to having three, so a lot of responsibility fell on our shoulders and it was a lot of work, and the hours were kind of brutal. There were a lot of other things going on in my life that I had to be responsible for. So it was one of those things where sometimes you just get so exhausted. And it's not like anything's going wrong—it's all good stuff, but at the same time you're so physically and mentally exhausted that sometimes you're like, 'oh my God, I can't do this.'

Which makes it all the more impressive that you were able to do it for four years!
Yeah, and I'm so happy that I was able to do it and that I had the opportunity to be a part of this show for four years. It has been the best experience of my life to date and it's a huge chapter in my life that I'm going to close tonight.

What’s next for you?
People think there's like a project already lined up for me, but there's not. You have to go back to the drawing board and start auditioning again. So that's what I'm doing - auditioning. I also have an organization I'm starting and I'm writng and being creative with other things. I also have the movie "21 & Over" coming out next year. I definitely would like to broaden my horizons and be challenged in different ways.
