We've been paying close attention to the lack of diversity within the fashion industry and while the number are getting better, it's not time to celebrate quite yet.
Supermodel Jourdan Dunn agrees and said as much in an interview in the latest issue of Miss Vogue.
"I don't know why people applaud designers for having just one ethnic model. It's not like only one type of woman loves fashion," The 23-year-old beauty told the glossy.
And this isn't the first time Jourdan has shared her grievances. The British bombshell, as well as her friends and fellow supermodels --Chanel Iman and Joan Smalls -- have been extremely vocal about their struggles and frustrations being brown girls in the fashion industry. From racist encounters with makeup artists to being turned away because of the color of their skin, there sadly isn't a shortage of these unfortunate stories.
"I find it weird when [model] agents say, 'You're the only black girl booked for the show. Isn't it great?' Why is it great?" she adds.
Thankfully, Dunn's concerns are being addressed by the Diversity Coalition's powerful campaign to solve fashion's diversity problem. Let's just hope things change soon.
