With the wind in your ears and the air on your tongue, there's nothing like cruisin' down the highway on a joyride. Oh, if you're a dog, that is. Tons of pooches love sticking their snouts out a half-open window to take in the great big world before them.
Since so many pups enjoy the breeze running through their whiskers, we asked our readers to share photos of their pets doing just that. The responses were tickling, with canines grinning from ear to ear, cheeks flapping. Bringing the dog along sure does make road tripping a heck of a lot more fun, doesn't it?
Before you take in the adorable photos below, there are a few things you should know about riding in cars with dogs. Always be conscious of the heat; hundreds of pets die from heat exhaustion sitting in parked cars each year. And unfortunately, while most dogs love sticking their head out the window, this habit is potentially dangerous. The window should never be open wide enough for your dog to jump out (you can attest to the excitement that grows when your pet spots a bird). Plus, the road is full of debris that could injure your pet's eyes. Your best bet is to crack the window open slightly, and if you're really invested, purchase a pair of doggles (dog goggles!). Now that safety is covered, enjoy these jubilant, joyriding dogs.
