Judgment Day: How To Protect Your Pets From The May 21 Rapture (VIDEO)

Atheists Volunteer To Care For Pets After Judgment Day (VIDEO)

With May 21 -- and the predicted rapture that comes with it -- quickly approaching, followers of the Christian ministry Family Radio and Harold Camping's judgement day prophesy are making a few last minute preparations.

One of the most pressing concerns leading up to the impending day of judgment: Will Sparky be OK?

Not to worry, the folks at After The Rapture Pet Care and Eternal Earthbound Pets have your furry friend covered. For a small fee, these ad-hoc organizations, mostly run by atheists or other non-Christians, promise to care for your pets after the Rapture.

Sound like a scam? Both sites have been accused of exploitation, but each insists it is a legitimate service. Let's just say we'll let you be the judge.

According to the After The Rapture Pet Care website:

Our administrators and Volunteer Pet Caretakers will do whatever it takes to find and rescue your pets. If your pet has a location chip, they'll use that, or they'll go to every location you've registered with us, and, if your pets are not at one of those locations, they'll search for your cars as well as stay in contact with the local pet shelters. If they are unable to reach a Volunteer Caretaker in your area for whatever reason, our administrators will communicate with local animal organizations, like the Humane Society, to advocate for your pet's rescue and care.

After The Rapture requires a $10 membership fee over Pay-Pal, while Eternal Earthbound Pets charges $135-per-animal.

Then again, as the Seattle Post Intelligencer points out, author of the book "Heaven," Randy Alcorn, says that pets will go to Heaven, so pet protection may not be such a good investment.
