The 26-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter's single "Call Me Maybe" got a celebrity-infused burst of publicity when Bieber, Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and her new boyfriend, Boys Like Girls' Martin Johnson made an at-home music video for it.
Also goofing around in the video were actress Sammy Droke, "Kickin' It" star Mateo Arias and Big Time Rush's Logan Henderson, Kendall Schmidt and Carlos Pena, who uploaded the video to his YouTube account.
The famous friends looked as if they were genuinely having a blast in the video, wearing fake mustaches and dancing crazily while lip-synching to the song. Bieber and Gomez tease viewers by nearly locking lips.
Jepsen's super-catchy song is poised to race up the charts with Bieber's backing. The 17-year-old pop star can be credited with plucking Jepsen from relative obscurity (Jepsen has had some success in Canada) after he heard her song on a Canadian radio station and thought it was a "smash." It seems as if Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, trusts his star client's taste in music, as he recently signed Jepsen to his label, Schoolboy Records.
The song has received praise from both Bieber and Gomez since January, when Gomez tweeted a photo of Bieber with a big smile and wrote, "This smile is because of Carly Rae Jepsen.. We have not stopped listening your song girl!" A few days later Bieber proved he really hadn't stopped listening to the song, tweeting a video of himself, his former swagger coach Ryan Good, and Good's girlfriend, "Pretty Little Liars" star Ashley Benson, rocking out to the song on a private jet.
